Elmwood Park Zoo is a small neighborhood zoo that offers all types of events throughout the year, treetop tours, and a ton of activities for families. Beast of a Feast is an event put on by the zoo to raise money to support their animals. 15 local restaurants came and served up tastings of their menus. There was everything from gnocchi with vodka sauce to fried oreos (YUM!!). My good friend Dana and I tried each and every food (at least once) offered by each restaurant and everything was so delicious. All of the food was included with the price of admission ($40 for annual pass holders and $50 for general admission). There were extras available for purchase at the event also. One of the extras was a drink ticket ($10), which included a mug and unlimited refills of their signature drink the Savannah Sunset.
Another extra you could purchase at the event was a Giraffe or Buffalo feeding (only $3). We chose to feed the giraffes because giraffes are my favorite animal and there was no way I could pass up the chance to feed one! We were all given a few pieces of lettuce and lead up to a platform where the giraffes could reach up and eat the lettuce from our hands. It was so amazing to be up close and personal with such a majestic animal and I hopefully will be able to do it again!
Since a huge cold front came into the area right before this I ended up wearing jeans and a cami instead of a dress. I picked an ankle length jean to keep a more summery feel. I paired this with a peach polka dotted cami with a peplum detail at the bottom. I also added a bunch of fun jewelry to add even more summer to the outfit. Enjoy!
